Down by the River

Flowerhead 2, market, veggies

Monday's poppies are for us. Last Sat.'s market was pretty awesome. This picture isn't so great, but can you spot the beautiful calla lilies? I'm so proud of them. I've also fallen for 'Blushing Beauty' tulip. Gorgeous. The last picture is from Stuart---he would like to officially remind everyone that we grow vegetables as well. more vegetables than flowers. but can they stop you in your tracks? hmmm. to be considered.

Pretty in Pink

Today I opened the seed packet to love lies bleeding and couldn't believe the perfection of the little circular pink amaranth seeds. I've never grown it before...I hear it gets bug eaten but I can't resist and seeing the seed is all the more motivation to get a good crop. Pink inspired, I ran around the farm in search of other pink lovelies, a nice distraction from the greenhouse toiling. Found some swiss chard and tree peony branches coming in second and third place.

Marry Me Please

We had a customer say, "I'd like some of those blood colored calla lilies," and thus was born my desire to walk down the aisle once again (with Stuart of course!) with this blood colored bouquet in tow.

Pick up yourself

When we look at the 20 or so trays of one thing that we have to plant, anything in quantities over 1,000.....knees go weak....mind blurs.....heart palpitates....our eyes lock after we've loaded up the trays and, in silent resignation, we move towards our front field to face the task at hand, knowing we're going to have to call on our friends Mos Def, Flaming Lips, Beach House and several others to help ease the monotony. We've had several big let-downs so far this season that we're trying to work out. Navigating through crop losses, lack of a solid germination, too much rain, and the distraction of building a house is proving to be difficult. challenging. is that why we're farming? Love of a good challenge??
Not to mention my bracket has bled to death, going through several slow spasms on its way out. Ouch.

Drywall Finished!
